Day 2 Loch Ness
Time free in Inverness, before driving along the shoreline of Loch Ness where we explore and take in its grand scale. Brimming with history, and tales of the world’s shyest monster. Board a two-hour cruise at the Locks of Dochgarroch onto the loch itself with a photo opportunity of Urquhart Castle. Make sure you have your camera - just in case something appears from the depths of the loch!! The loch is as deep as the mountains surrounding the loch. On return from your cruise enjoy a coffee and cake on the banks or purchase some local sweet treats at the An Talla centre.
Day 3 Kyle Railway Line & Isle of Skye
Take your seat on “One of the best railway journeys in the world” according to Michael Palin. In Kyle your coach awaits to take you over the bridge to the Isle of Skye, an island full of mystery and history. Included is a light lunch at the Dunollie Hotel, Broadford. Returning over the bridge, stopping at Eilean Donan Castle for photos, before crossing The Highlands from the west coast to east coast, ending a most magical day out.
DAY 4 Northern Line
Trace the North Sea coastline on this picturesque rail journey passing Fairy-tale Dunrobin Castle and the beautiful beaches around Brora. Experience how remote Scotland can be passing famous salmon rivers & distilleries with miles of moorland before re-joining your coach at Thurso. A tour and tasting has been arranged at Wolfburn Distillery followed by a visit to nearby John O’Groats, the most northerly point on mainland Britain. Returning south by coach, passing Castle of May, the Queen Mums Scottish residence and still used by the Royal famiy each year. We stop at what once used to be the mighty fishing port of Wick, before taking the coastal drive back to the hotel.
