The tour is based on the edge of the Lake District in an elegant 3* hotel, which Classic has regularly used for over 25 years. By doing this the price of the Tour is significantly less than staying in the actual Lake District. In addition the hotel lays on entertainment, and we have allocated plenty of rooms for solo travellers.

Tuesday: Windermere, Ullswater & Northern Lake District
Time free in Bowness, the Lakes most popular town on the shore of Lake Windermere. The day continues through picturesque Lakeland countryside visiting Ambleside, Grasmere & Dove Cottage, the home of William Wordsworth. Afterwards, head over the famous Kirkstone Pass - the highest road in the Lakes to Glenridding. Board the steamer for a one hour cruise on beautiful Lake Ullswater, the second largest lake in the Lake District, with time for refreshments at Pooley Bridge.
Wednesday: Lake Windermere Steam Train and Holker Hall & Gardens
Hop on the Haverthwaite Steam Railway near Newby Bridge, as it chugs through picturesque Leven Valley to the shoreline of Lake Windermere. Disembark with entry included into the nearby Lakeside Motor Museum, with over 30,000 exhibits including the racing Campbells. Next stop is famous Holker Hall & Gardens - regarded as one of the best stately homes in Britain. We spend most of the afternoon at Holker exploring the house and strolling the Lakeland gardens. Returning through the Southern side of the Lake District visiting Grange over Sands along the way.
Thursday: Bassenthwaite & Lakes Distillery Tour
This morning head towards Penrith before turning off into the Northern Lakes area. First stop is the lively market town of Keswick at the head of Derwentwater. After lunch, the tour continues, with a scenic drive along the total shoreline of Lake Bassenthwaite. At the far end of the lake is highly acclaimed Lakes Distillery which is surrounded by Lakeland fells and woodlands. Housed in a beautifully refurbished 1850’s Victorian model farm sample the quality of world class gin, vodka & whisky. A private guided tour and tasting has been arranged. It takes approximately 1 hour. Afterwards take a leisurely drive back to the hotel for your final nights stay.
