Tuesday Three Lochs Tour & Whisky Galore
See Perthshire’s lochs & mountains in all their autumn glory as the leisurely day takes us to Queen Victoria’s favourite view at Loch Tummel. Onwards to Kenmore and the shimmering waters of Loch Tay surrounded by purple clad hillsides. Further north & into the Highlands before we drive along the shoreline of Loch Earn passing rustic autumn woodlands, before stopping in Crieff with a guided tour and two tastings of the famous Grouse at Glenturret, the world’s oldest distillery.
Wednesday Glamis Castle & Gardens & The Enchanted Forest
Nearby is the multi award winning Glamis – the childhood home of the Queen Mother. The castle is a place to admire with it’s stunning architecture and furnishings with its proud history dating back to 14th century. It’s in October that the gardens display their spectacular rustic colours. Stroll the various nature trails with an abundance of trees & exotic plants. After an early dinner, hop on board the provided coach outside the hotel for a dazzling evening of music & light at the Enchanted Forest. Using the stunning forest location near to Pitlochry as a backdrop, it promises to be a spectacle like no other. (Free transport from Pitlochry hotels).
Thursday St Andrews, Fife Villages & Dundee
First port of call is the university town of St Andrews – also well known as the home of golf. Take a stroll round the many shops, take a walk on to the Old Course or on the beach. It has Royal connections too and is where William & Kate met. Next stop, via the Fife coastline is Dundee – a transformed city with its bustling waterfront. Time free to stroll the waterfront, perhaps visit the V&A Museum which opened in 2018, hosting major exhibitions, celebrating Scotland's design heritage. Entry is free. Or, visit Dundee's favourite attraction - RRS Discovery, built in Dundee in 1901 and carried Shackleton and Scott on their famous Antarctic expedition.
