Day 2: St Andrews & Fife Villages
Known as the home of golf, St Andrews also played a huge part in the 1980s production of Chariots of Fire. The famous scenes find athletes running up West Sands beach, hurdling the railings and racing across the first fairway of the Old Course itself, before skirting the hallowed 18th green and disappearing up the steps of the Royal & Ancient. Enjoy free time in the famous University town with its cathedral, charming boutiques, and quirky cafes. Round off the day with a delicious chippie tea that even the most famous of film stars would enjoy. Head back to Dunfermline along the Fife coastline, passing picturesque fishing villages of Anstruther & Crail, before stopping for photos at Loch Leven, featured in the blockbuster film Braveheart, starring Mel Gibson.
Day 3: Blackness Castle and Dunfermline Abbey
Dunfermline Abbey, resting place of medieval monarchs, including Robert the Bruce, stood in for Westminster in the Netflix hit Outlaw King. Enjoy free flow entry to explore the Palace and Abbey’s nave. After free time in South Queensferry, embark on a cruise to Blackness Castle, notable in Outlaw King as Yorkshire Castle and more recently in the hit series Outlander. Indulge in a cream tea onboard for an extra touch of luxury.
Day 4: Rosslyn Chapel and Edinburgh
Our first stop is the 15th Century Rosslyn Chapel. Immortalized in Dan Brown’s film “The Da Vinci Code,” starring Tom Hanks, it is one of the most famous chapels globally, surrounded by myths and legends of the "Holy Grail." After exploring the chapel, the afternoon is free for you to discover the captivating sights of Edinburgh. Many muggles will recognise colourful Victoria Street as the inspiration for Diagon Alley in Harry Potter. JK Rowling took inspiration from the city throughout the famous series.
