Suffolk is one of the oldest and most celebrated counties in England and is blessed with some of the country’s best stately homes. On this well-priced tour, staying in a lovely 3-star hotel, see for yourself the historical importance of this formidable county – quintessentially preserved villages, ancient manor houses, lined with 50 miles of heritage coastline. This year, we feature the Brome Grange hotel, a country retreat set in four acres of private grounds, recently restored to bring back some of its original character.
The Artist Constable is famous for his landscapes, which are mostly of the Suffolk countryside, where he was born and bred.

Day 2: Constable Country
Passing patchwork fields and woodlands, arrive in Dedham, where John Constable attended school. Nearby is 16th-century Bridge Cottage, housing an exhibition of the life and work of this 17th-century painter. Nestled beside the meandering River Stour, Flatford is centrally located in the heart of the Dedham Vale. Embark on a guided tour to unveil the picturesque scenes that propelled John Constable to fame. Afterwards, relax in the riverside tea-room with a choice of snacks or freshly prepared light bites.
Day 3: Bury St Edmunds Market, The Harry Potter Village & Gainsborough
Enjoy the morning in historic Bury St Edmunds, where on Wednesday, there is an open-air market in the town square. Visit the ancient Abbey dating back to the Magna Carta or pop into the Angel Hotel of Dickens & Mrs Pickwick fame. Next stop is Lavenham – considered to be the UK's best preserved medieval village, dating back to Saxon times. The main street was filmed in scenes of Harry Potter’s "Deathly Hallows". Then on to the ancient market town of Sudbury, home to one of England’s best-known artists, Robert Gainsborough.
Day 4: Suffolk Heritage Coastline & Orwell Cruise
Today, head to Ipswich, where the voyage commences, setting the stage for a leisurely exploration along the River Orwell. As you glide through the waters, you'll have the opportunity to take in the captivating sights, culminating at the charming Pin Mill before returning to Ipswich. This carefully curated experience combines the tranquillity of a river cruise with the delight of a delectable afternoon tea, making it the perfect way to savour the afternoon with a touch of elegance and charm.
