Day 2 Downpatrick & train ride to Inch Abbey
Famed for being Irelands most easterly county, Downpatrick is only a short journey from Belfast. The Saint Patrick Centre is the only permanent exhibition in the World about Ireland’s Patron Saint. The History of Ireland starts here in Patrick’s words, which guides you through the amazing multimedia exhibition. Down Cathedral and Saint Patrick’s Grave are located on Cathedral Hill beside the Saint Patrick Centre flanked by a massive granite stone, to protect the grave from pilgrims looting soil in previous years. Nearby is Downpatrick and Country Down Railway, visit the museum and carriage gallery before boarding the train to Inch Abbey with beautiful views of Mourne Mountains. Time to explore the Abbey which featured in the popular TV series - Game of Thrones (some walking involved).
Day 3 Titanic & Whiskey Tasting
First opened in 2012, the Titanic Experience is a monument to Belfast's maritime heritage on the site of the former Harland & Wolff shipyard in the city's Titanic Quarter where the RMS Titanic was built. This fantastic visitor centre is immersive, informative and tells stories of shipyard workers, passengers, and the crew. Hours can be spent exploring the exhibition with so much to discover and so many emotions felt walking between the galleries. Afterwards enjoy a tour at Titanic distillers at Thompson Dock, walk in the footsteps of the dock workers as you journey through the history of The Pumphouse, and explore the site where Titanic last rested on dry ground before her maiden voyage. Afterwards, enjoy a sensory tasting experience of premium Irish Whiskey and award-winning Irish Vodka.
Day 4 Belfast & Brewery Tour
Enjoy a leisurely morning before a midday tour at Hilden Brewery in Lisburn, the oldest of its kind in Ireland. Learn about Hilden House, visit the brewhouse and bottling plant before sampling the produce itself with a flight of three beers. Visitors are served a bowl of Irish stout stew and wheaten bread, the perfect way to set you up for the rest of the day. Spend the remainder of the day with free time in Belfast City, hop aboard an open top tour bus or a famous black cab tour. Admire the architecture of City Hall and visit the galleries of the Cathedral quarter with their boundary pushing artwork.
