Day 2 Manchester & Canal Cruise
Morning free to explore the delights of cosmopolitan Manchester. We meet back at the hotel, to take the short drive through the city to Salford Quays. Hop aboard for a boat trip with commentary around the Salford Quays and Manchester Ship Canal, giving you an insight into the history of the area and a unique view of Manchester including Media City, Old Trafford and the disused dry docks. Salford Quays is the perfect place to spend some time with the Imperial War Museum, Lowry Arts Theatre, BBC & Granada studios as well as the Lowry Outlet and a host of bars and eateries all to hand.
Day 3 Visit to Cotton Mill & Peak District
13 miles away is the 18th century Quarry Bank Cotton Mill. It is one of Britain's greatest industrial heritage sites, set in picturesque gardens and countryside. It signifies the importance Manchester had to play during the Industrial Revolution. In its hey day Quarry Bank Mill grew to become one of the largest cotton manufacturing businesses in the world. Discover what it was like to work in a cotton mill. Experience heritage machinery in action and feel the floors shake beneath your feet as the spinning machines turn and the looms weave. The afternoon is a stark contrast as we take a scenic drive crossing into the Peak District with some time in Chapel en le Frith.
