Day 2 Lovely Lanark & Clyde Valley
Based in Lanark, only forty minutes from Glasgow is Errington Dairy. Founded in 1984, Errington Cheese is a multi-generational farmhouse cheese producer. Specialists in ewe and goat dairy. Handcrafting iconic styles including Lanark Blue, Corra Linn, & Blackmount. Hear the history and sample the delights they have to offer. Afterwards a fascinating visit to New Lanark World Heritage site by the River Clyde. Time free to have a walk round the 18th century cottages, mill, school and wheelhouse. Returning along the fertile Clyde Valley with its many famous garden centres.
Day 3 Glasgow Guided Tour
A local guide joins you for a half day tour of the Glasgow. Hear tales of tenement times and the city’s deep design history. The day continues with a visit to Mackintosh and the Willow tearooms, located in the heart of the city. Enjoy sumptuous afternoon tea surrounded by the décor based on design by the great Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Guests with mobility issues may be seated on the lower floor. Afterwards time free to roam & explore Glasgow’s city centre.
Day 4 Whisky, Haggis & Loch Lomond
Deep in the Campsies and not far from Loch Lomond is one of Scotland’s oldest whisky distilleries – Glengoyne. Enjoy a whisky tour and tasting before making the drive to nearby Balfron. The highlight of today is to hear the history of haggis, learn the real recipe and enjoy a haggis lunch with the traditional accompaniments. The afternoon is spent visiting Loch Lomond, stopping off at Lomond Shores, Balmaha, a good spot to see the vastness of the UK’s largest fresh water lake.
